What is Farm to School?
Farm to School connects schools (K-12) and local farms with the objectives of serving healthy meals in school cafeterias, improving student nutrition, providing agriculture, health, and nutrition education opportunities, and supporting local and regional farmers.
There are currently more than 100 farm to school initiatives in Vermont ranging from school cafeterias serving locally sourced meals to farm-based classroom curricula. Nationally, there are over 8,900 schools with farm to school projects in 42 states.
