About Us: Jr. Iron Chef VT 2008 is a an event planned by members of the Burlington Food Council as a statewide competition, fundraising, and awareness event for the Burlington School Food Project and VT FEED. The competition gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience preparing and cooking nutritious foods. We hope to encourage students to make healthy eating choices, and understand more about nutrition, fresh and local foods, the culinary arts, and school food systems. |

teams of kids from all over Vermont will prepare delicious dishes
using seasonal, local foods that can be easily prepared for school
food service menus. Judges include Mark Bove, Bove’s Restaurant (did you see him on Throwdown with Bobby Flay on the Food Network?) Melissa Pasanen, Free Press Correspondent, and co-author of Cooking with Shelburne Farms, Kathy O’Brien, Survivor: Marquesas contestant, and many others. The emcee will be Sean Buchanan, Executive Chef at the Stowe Mountain Lodge. There will be live music, raffles and give-aways, food vendors, a Farmers' Market, sugar-on-snow, and so much more! All are welcome, so bring a friend and don't miss it!
![]() Join Vermont FEED and the Burlington School Food Project for the 1st Annual Jr. Iron Chef VT Competition on Saturday April 12, 2008 at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, VT. The competition will feature teams of middle and high school students from all across Three awards will be given in each age group: Best In Show, Most Creative, and Greatest Number/Best Use of Local Ingredients. The day will also include food, live music, a get-to-know your farmers market, a raffle of great prizes, children’s activities, and celebrity guests!
